About Me

Konnichiwa! That's me, the girl dressed like a farmer, at the Trick Eye Museum in Seoul, Korea, during the overseas trip with my family in 2013. Sadly my real name ain't Kimiko, that was actually my favourite character from the series Xiaolin Showdown during my childhood days.

There she is, a sassy wielder of the fire element. Doesn't she look lovely? *fangirl*

Anyway... My name is Teng Teng, and I love clouds, crows, collecting and photographing figures. I'm from Singapore, a little red dot sandwiched between Malaysia and Indonesia. If there's one word to sum up the place, it would be 'humidly hot.' Fine that's two words, but it's my blog so I call the shots here, bleh!

This blog will be an extension of my diary, as I would love to share with everyone the euphoria and beauty of each and every figure I get to own. It all started on a whim, I entered a local hobby and games store and noticed a moody looking Senjougahara Hitagi (from the series Bakemono Gatari) posing on the inner most shelves and the first thought that struck me was, "I have to get her." So, I did, without knowing that was the herald of yet another expensive hobby (a few years back I was really into cosplay and lolita so...).

As for figure photography, it was more of a way for me to showcase their hidden allure and have more people appreciate the art of sculpting. As every figure is moulded and painted manually, it is natural that the labour will add to the cost so I cannot complain about the hefty price tag. Unfortunately I do not own a camera, so I can only make do with whatever iPhone 6 can offer. However, I refuse to let a lack of pro cam hanker my passion to capture the best of a figure, and neither will it be an excuse for not giving the best I could. As Zetsu form Naruto said,
A weapon is only as strong as its wielder.
And no, that's not my excuse for not buying a camera. Edit: I do now! A pretty Olympus EPL-8 ^.^

Speaking of Naruto, did I mention that I love Naruto? Specifically a man named Uchiha Itachi. Oh kami do I adore him to bits... Above are Naruto manga my best friend Phoebe got for me from her Taiwan trip (love ya too xoxo). They are my first collection, and strategically chosen for one and only reason - they all have Itachi inside. Like Volume 16 (most right) was his first appearance and Volume 43 (most left) was his official death... Yes till date I'm still grieving over it, it's inevitable.

I even got his forehead protector as part of my half-ass Itachi cosplay back when I was 13; yes this isn't your typical puppy love, it has matured quite a lot and still going strong since the past seven years...

As for the name of my blog, it actually can be read in 2 ways:

Figure, my life

Figure my life (out)

The first is an effort to put my love for figure collecting in black and white whereas the second is more of an ongoing dilemma of my ambiguous ambition. Till date I still have no clue what I'll end up doing or be, and this lack of definite direction has become a chronic headache. I've just graduated with a Diploma in Landscape Architecture, and after three years of meddling with AutoCAD and site analysis I knew this is not the job for me. Everything is too real in this line and I'd much prefer to work within a fantasy world, where I'm free to create whatever I want. Hopefully I'll be able to figure my life out after my University life starts. We'll see about that.

Well, 2015 marks the year I began this hardcore journey of figure collecting & start of a new page in my social life, so I hope you'll have fun exploring the way with me. Jyaa!
